Today the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority (PFA) announced that Le Sueur County was awarded $6,090,682 for a water infrastructure project.

La Sueur County will use this funding for the construction of a low-pressure sanitary sewer system around West Jefferson Lake and to construct a force main to the city of Cleveland for treatment. A Point Source Implementation Grant of $4,872,546 will cover most of the costs. The rest of the funding will come from a Clean Water Revolving Fund (CWRF) loan of $1,218,136. The 12-year loan at one percent will save an estimated $36,184 when compared to market-rate financing.

This project will help protect our waterways, something I’ve been working on with the LCC Subcommittee on Water Policy.
