Above the southern entrance to the building is a gilded quadriga called The Progress of the State which was sculpted by Daniel Chester French and Edward Clark Potter. It was completed and raised to the roof of the capitol in 1906. The four horses represent the power of nature: earth, wind, fire and water. I was lucky to be able to climb the spiral staircase and take a selfie. Also Reprentative McDonald took pictures of all the GOP Representatives and video with a really nice drone....Read More
Here’s an update on this years session. The GOP was able to block any kind of gas tax increase and remove some really bad language out of this years bills. On the down side the 2% sick tax that was supposed to sunset this year will still costing Minnesotans 2 billion dollars for years to come and make the cost of health care go up. It also leaves the pathway open for single payer(government control) health care. Will have more details coming after special session starts....Read More
I thought you might want to see where minnesota compares to our surrounding states here is a good map. We are currently 28th in the country for a state gas tax. If the DFL raises the tax 20 cents we will be 4th highest in the nation. Just a FYI, we are in the top 5 of all other taxes and the worst in the country for business taxes....Read More
