MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan released the following statement regarding Democrats’ hypocrisy when it comes to wages:

“Over the past few weeks, we’ve had a front-row seat to the Democrats’ hypocrisy when it comes to wages. Bernie Sanders negated his own policies by paying his staff less than the $15/hour he believes American workers should be paid. Once confronted, he cut hours rather than raising wages, and berated his team for speaking up about the issue. Minnesota’s own Senator Amy Klobuchar was busted withholding pay from her campaign employees to boost her fundraising numbers.

“Now, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, and one of the four true leaders of the House Democrats, is proposing a whopping $20/hour federal minimum wage.

“New freshmen Reps. Angie Craig and Dean Phillips have both attempted to remain silent on almost every issue of the day, instead, hiding behind the leadership of their far-left members. But, they need to put their money where their mouth is. Do Craig and Phillips agree with raising the minimum wage to $15 or even $20, even if it comes at the expense of employees hours? Or are they bold enough to speak against Tlaib and Omar’s voices and stand up for Main Street Minnesota employers in their district?”
