MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan released the following statement regarding Senator Amy Klobuchar’s silence on recent statements defending former Senator Al Franken:

“Yesterday, Mayor Pete Buttigieg came out in defense of former Senator Al Franken, ultimately dismissing the EIGHT women who spoke up and came out with sexual misconduct allegations against Franken. Democratic Presidential hopefuls Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kristen Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Michael Bennet were quick to reject Buttigieg’s dismal, standing with the women and against Franken.

“But, Senator Amy Klobuchar seemingly decided to take the same stance she took when the accusations started piling up back in 2017 – a stance of silence.

“Americans deserve a President, and Minnesotans deserve a Senator, who can and will take tough, principled stances. Not one like Klobuchar who waffles, remaining on the fence until a decision is made for her. Standing silent is not good enough Senator Klobuchar. Do you stand with your former disgraced colleague, or do you stand with the women whose lives will never be the same because of him? It’s time to take a stance.”
